There are so many ways to create a Kumihimo bracelet or necklace, depending on the beads, threads and the set up of the board you can achieve so many different looks,
In this blog I wanted to show you how to get two different Kumihimo patterns using Swarovski Xilion bicones by simply changing the layout of threads and beads on the board.
Choosing the colours of beads can sometimes take longer than making a piece of Jewellery! So as a result of this and to help to inspire you I decided to make these two Swarovski bracelets into kits which are now available to buy online.
Included in the kits are step by step instructions with pictures and a collection of Swarovski beads that have been lovingly handpicked, finding the colours that best compliment each other.
Spiral Kumihimo Braids
For these bracelets I have used Beadsmith Superlon Bead Cord
To create this spiral weave you will need to lay the threads so that each section has the same coloured bead.
You can put any colours next to each other as long as each section has two colours the same it will always come out as a spiral design.
Mixed Kumihimo Braids
To create a more random effect, you will need to lay the beaded threads in an alternate colours, you can repeat the pattern in each section or you can just have the sections completely random
Useful Products
Using weighted bobbins keeps the threads tight, which helps keep the beads in place whilst weaving
If you want to learn how to make a beaded Kumihimo bracelet there are step by step instructions on some of our previous blogs.
