How to Make a Beaded Waist Chain

How to Style Waist Chains: The Ultimate Guide for Summer, Festivals & Beach Looks

Waist chains are a trendy and eye-catching accessory that can instantly elevate your summer outfit. Whether you’re heading to the beach, dancing at your favourite club, or prepping your look for festival season, a stylish waist chain adds a touch of sparkle and flair to your ensemble.

In this guide, we’ll show you how to wear waist chains with confidence. Our easy, step-by-step styling tips are designed to spark your creativity and help you incorporate this bold accessory into your wardrobe.

All you need to complete the look is:

11/0 Miyuki Delicas in as many colours as you like.

Griffin Silk Thread

Bottom hinge calottes

5mm Jump Rings

S-Hook or lobster clasp

1 metre of chain with links wide enough to accommodate a clasp hooking through.

For tools, you will need flat and chain nose pliers, as well as high-quality cutters.

Unwrap your Griffin Silk and secure a delica to the opposite end from the needle attachment. To achieve this, we threaded the cord through a delica seed bead twice and pulled to secure.

Now thread the calotte so that the bead sits inside the opening. Pass the tail end back through the calotte and tie a double knot to secure in place.

Using the needle attached to the end of the silk, begin to thread your beads.

There are no rules on how you do this, but little clusters in varying lengths work best.

Griffin Silk comes in 2-metre lengths, so thread your design to accommodate your waist size. Once you are happy with the length, attach a calotte and secure with a delica bead and knot (as shown at the start).

Use sharp cutters to trim off any loose ends. We are using Beadsmith Serrated Mini Shears as they are ideal for cutting bead thread and cords.

Using a jump ring, attach one end of the beaded cord to a 1-metre length of chain. Attach the other end to any point along the chain to create a drape effect.

We used an S-Hook Clasp for easy fastening.
