How To Create Festival Jewellery

DSCF4176

With the festival season starting I wanted to design a few different bracelets that all had a festival feel. In recent years I think image has become more important festivals and even though it can be muddy and wet, when the sun is shining the jewellery comes out too!!

taking jewellery on and off can be stressful when you just want to collapse in your tent

If you have been to a festival you will know that taking jewellery on and off can be stressful when you just want to collapse in your tent. The perfect solution to this is memory wire, which is basically a coiled wire, that keeps it shape and gives the effect of wearing many bracelets at once when actually it’s just one piece.

The designs you can create with this are endless so you can go for a delicate or chunky look or even something more bohemian or modern.  I think any style or colours will look great.

The other advantage to using Memory wire is that you do not need a clasp, there are no fastenings, you just unravel it from your wrist……So perfect for festival jewellery!

The other two bracelets do have fastenings but I made my own hook and eye clasp on the multistrand leather bracelet using non tarnish craft wire.It is so nice to create your own findings, it just adds to the style of the piece.

For the last bracelet I wanted to create a bit of ‘festival bling’ so I used diamante cup chain and weaved rattail into this.

The fastening for this bracelet is a heart toggle, another great option for when you don’t want to be fiddling around with clasps.

I think my favourite design is the multi strand bracelet; I like the mixture of using buttons and charms with the different colours of leather.

I hope I have inspired all you festival goers to get designing your own pieces and even if you are just watching them on TV in the comfort of your own home, get crafting (this is what I will be doing!)

Have Fun x
