Kumihimo Jewellery by Wendy

What have you made and why do you like it?
Bracelets and Necklaces

What inspired you?
I was introduced to ‘Kumihimo’ while visiting my cousin in Canada, she
has lived in Hong Kong and studied Weaving & braiding while there. I
really am hooked on it now and enjoy trying new ‘patterns’. I am only
just starting to find supplies of items needed on the internet, this
started out only a few but I seem to find more each day.

Which type of beads you have used and why?
I used Toho beads size 6 or 8 together with C-Lon cord, this grows
very quickly and I keep trying to use different beads. On the pink
necklace I used two Fimo flower beads to break the necklace up a
little (really I had run out the small pink beads) – I am quite
pleased with the results.

If you used a new technique tells us about your experience.
I have also made some items just by weaving with Rattail cord, both on
square and a round Kumihimo disc. The patterns are endless – using
different types of cords or threads also introducing beads on some of
the cords,
(my husband calls it ‘my therapy’ and threatens to phone my cousin in
Canada cursing her for introducing me to this.
