Poppy inspired jewellery supports Remembrance Day

While the Poppy Appeal has always been a successful fundraising venture, the poppy itself seems to be following in the Appeal’s footsteps by becoming a style must-have.

After a glamorous revamp by jeweller Kleshna and a string of celebrity endorsements, the sparkly poppies worn for Remembrance Sunday have become hugely popular.

The poppies have been given the glam factor by the addition of red and black Swarovski Crystals. Celebrity judges and contestants on The X- Factor and Strictly Come Dancing have showcased the glittering brooches, which have been a huge hit across the UK.

Whilst the glamorous poppies sparkle in their traditional place on the lapels of jackets and pinned to blouses, celebrities have really embraced Remembrance Day by adapting the poppy to be used as a versatile accessory.

British Royal Legion spokesman Robert Lee told The Times: “Last year Strictly and X Factor got tremendous exposure. This year it is no longer us going to celebs. They are coming to us and asking to have them.”

Poppy-inspired jewellery allows you to show your support for a worthwhile cause and gives you the chance to get creative with Swarovski Crystals and flower beads. We have created a Remembrance Day brooch using red and black fimo flower beads along with Swarovski Crystals in ruby.

The brooch offers a different approach to the traditional poppies and is something you can wear after Remembrance Day. The embellished jewellery trend is very popular this season and the brooch gives you the chance to try beads you would not normally use.

After you have made the brooch, don’t forget to pop a pound in a Royal British Legion charity box as you wear your bespoke poppy accessory with pride. We certainly think that poppy-inspired jewellery could become a permanent fashion feature throughout the year.
