Floral jewellery tributes decorate collections on Spring/Summer catwalks
It’s currently fashion week in New York and the Spring/Summer runways are awash with pretty flowers. Floral influences have been seen across many collections from Chanel to Sass & Bide.
Floral blooms are a popular pattern choice that helps perk up winter wardrobes and chase away those winter blues. For us, the floral theme also channels that much desired retro vibe.
Embroidered and embellished flowers have been used in exciting ways to accessorise outfits at designer label Chanel, and Ralph Lauren showcased gorgeous black and red floral clutch bags. Floral collars featured at Sass & Bide and flowers replacing shirt buttons at Mulberry.
Perhaps the most ingenious use of floral accessories was at Oscar de la Renta, which used stunning jumbo rose bracelets and chunky floral necklaces that made the pieces burst with floral life.
Jessica Bumpus, fashion features editor at Vogue magazine commented on the SS13 floral tributes and offered some style advice: “Flowers grew everywhere throughout the collections, becoming the ultimate badge of spring/summer femininity. Think Sixties-style daisies, meadow poppies and luscious roses. If textured florals feel overwhelming on your clothes, look to accessories instead. Introduce flower-covered shades, bags and shoes to lift simple wardrobe staples.”
The emphasis on the floral theme for the SS13 season is bringing flowers into a three-dimensional light. You can achieve the look with our selection of rose beads in pretty floral brights and pastels, then combine with our cute fimo roses that are the spitting image of ones featured on the runway. The stylish Rose mesh ring kits are another way to easily channel the floral trend. Make sure to add some sparkle to your floral jewellery with some Swarovski Crystals!
