Beads used as Embellishments At The Brits

The cream of British music gathered together to honour the tradition that is The Brit Awards. 2014 saw a whole host of new acts and old favourites produce some rather wonderful music, and the looks they gave us on the red carpet did not disappoint.

Boys and girls alike donned their finery to celebrate the best that this year had to offer. With the “best and worst dressed” list looming, they certainly looked the part! From Jessie J’s sparkles and Rita Ora’s embellishments to Labyrinth’s minimalist charms and Aluna Francis’ co-ordinating sheer, the artists represented music’s style effortlessly on the red carpet.

Katy Perry’s neon Cleopatra wonderland flashed inspiration in our heads for something perfectly bright. A pair of tassel earrings takes the best of Katy’s performance (bright neons and fringe details) to create something eye-catching in a few easy steps.

1. Measure approximately 1m of 0.6mm Neon Shamballa cord. Cut off around 15cm and put to one side.
2. Using a debit card (or something similar!), wrap the cord around lengthways until it reaches the end.
3. Tuck the remaining end underneath and slide the looped cord off carefully
4. Use the extra piece to tie a knot around the centre of the cord.
5. Glue the end of the cord into an 8mm bell closer with E-6000 glue. Once this has dried, cut the loops at the end of the cord to reveal the tassel ends.
6. Carefully snip or untie the extra piece of cord and trim the tassel ends to a length to suit.
7. Attach the bell closer to a fishhook using a jump ring and you now have a pair of beautiful tassel earrings!
