How To Make Festive Swarovski Kumihimo Bracelet

christmasAs the Festive season is fast approaching bursting with Christmas do’s, New year’s eve parties as well as families to organise and presents to buy, things are undoubtedly going to get hectic.

If you’re thinking that you need a bit of glitz to go with your faithful little black dress, don’t panic! You don’t need to make that over budget impulsive buy.

Why not create your very own festive Swarovski Kumihimo Bracelet with plenty of glitz and glamour at half the cost? Plus the added extra satisfaction of hand crafting something yourself, which you can then show off to your friends, Perfect!

If you are like me, a complete Magpie, then Swarovski Crystals are definitely for you. I do often think that these little bicone beauties get lost in the midst of their much more audacious Swarovski relatives, and are not used to their full potential.

Put them altogether and WOW! You have a show stopper right there, how do you do that I hear you cry!

Won’t it be ridiculously expensive?

Well there are a couple of ways you can achieve this, the first is by using the Kumihimo weaving method, this is perfect to get the full effect of the Swarovski Bicones, as they are all weaved tightly together, you can use one colour or mix a couple of colours and create a spiral of intertwining colours for more of a complex design, either way these bracelets look stunning, and your friends will never know how you made them.

They also look incredibly expensive for the fraction of the price you’d pay on the high street.

When you are threading your beads onto the Superlon

  • Thread the first two strands using a single colour
  • Then the next section of two strands
  • Thread on the other colour

If you want the more mixed look, alternate your colours so on each section of two strands you have different colours.

The amount of beads you use does depend on the size of your wrist, but after much experimenting we found that using 25 beads for each of the 8 strands seems to work the best; you could always purchase a few extra beads to add on if you feel that it might end up being slightly too small, as you can check the size as you go along.

The cost of making one of these bracelets would be between £20-£26 depending on which Swarovski crystal bicones and the end fastenings you choose.

This price is including the equipment to make the bracelet, and remember once you have bought all the equipment you won’t need to buy it again. If you already had all the equipment and just needed the beads, then it would only be £12-£15 to make a bracelet.

We do also have Kumihimo kits which have everything you need to create a Swarovski  Kumihimo bracelet you can buy the Swarovski or the seed beads kits. Each kit comes with full instructions.

It is very satisfying making one of these bracelets, when you start to see the weave taking place and those Swarovski bicones are winking at you, chances are you will be instantly addicted.  It is also a nice relaxing way to spend an afternoon; soon you will have a beautiful handcrafted bracelet for every occasion!

Mocca Rockerfella Crystal Ball Earring Kit With Swarovski Elements

Another idea is to make a cluster ball, which you can adapt for many different types of Jewellery, create earrings, bracelets, necklaces or all three!
You can connect the Swarovski clusters using eyepins or craft wire, making wrapped loops and linking them altogether. Use one of the clusters as a focal drop for a necklace.

I have created some earring kits that are available to buy online using this cluster ball method, they are simple to make with step by step instructions including pictures, and they would make any outfit pop!

The colours in the earring kits inspired me to make the bracelets shown in the picture above.

I hope we have inspired you to have a go and create something unique, that I guarantee you will be very proud of.

So let’s celebrate these beautiful Swarovski Crystal Bicone beads, that glisten so wonderfully in the light and make you feel like a Xillion dollars when you are wearing them!

Have Fun!
