What tools should I use to make jewellery?
Jewellery making is quite easy when you are used to it, and it is certainly handy to have the right equipment on hand. That way, if you have a good stock of beads and the right tools, you can decide spontaneously to make a pair of earrings, a necklace or any other jewellery item.
Here are some of the tools that are useful to own and keep with your beads:
Round nosed pliers
These are used in almost all jewellery making, because they are used for opening and closing jump rings, making loops, hooks and swirls of wire, and fixing or altering jewellery findings.
Straight nosed pliers
These are used to hold beads, wire and other shapes in place. They can be very useful when used in conjunction with round nosed pliers.
Wire cutters
Scissors can sometimes be used to cut thin wire, but if you plan to use memory wire or thick gauge wire, you will blunt the scissors and not cause a straight cut. Wire cutters are easy to use and effective. Tweezers
Not quite so essential, but they can be really handy when working with seed beads and looping wire through small spaces.
