How To Make… Wrapped bead loop

A wrapped bead loop can provide the final exquisite touch to a necklace, pendant or bracelet, but it is not an easy effect to achieve. With a 20cm length of wire, pair of flat nose pliers and plenty of practice, however, even the most inexperienced of jewellery makers can master the wrapped bead loop technique.

1 Using 0.6mm wire, and a glass drop, cut a length of aprox 15-20cm of wire, place the wire through the top of the bead, with the shorter end wrap this around 2 or 3 times, and cut of the excess.

2 Make a small loop by placing the wire in the pliers at the thinner end. As you wrap the wire continue to wrap over the bead covering the top, and then cut of the excess wire and flatten it with flat nose pliers.

3 Now this technique does take a bit of practice, you may need to do it a few times before you get it right, don’t get frustrated, you will get it, and it does not have to be perfect, the look is supposed to be a bit messy.
