How To Make a Ring from Vintaj Natural Brass Components

This really sparkly Vintaj statement ring is a great example of how you can transform flat Vintaj Components and connectors into a standout piece of jewellery.

To make this ring Janine has simply taken two of the Vintaj Acorn Leaf connector and bent these around the tubular end of a Ball Pein Jeweller’s Hammer until you end up with two curved pieces (or something with a curved edge for bending the metal). Don’t worry that these won’t look perfectly rounded at first, it all adds to the effect. You can use a pair of pliers to flatten the corners on the curves to give a more rounded appearance.

Now the tricky bit! Taking into account the size of your finger, wrap wire between the two sections on both sides, making sure they line up together. This can be tricky as the sections may overlap if pulled too tightly together. You can space the sections further apart if you need a bigger size but may need to use a thicker wire.

Once you have a ring shape, flatten down the wire ‘knots’ at either side and file any sharp bits. Now you can add some Swarovski Bicones by using wire (you’ll need a much thinner wire than used for the sides) or you can leave the ring plain if you prefer. For Janine’s ring she has used five, 4mm Swarovski Xilion Bicone beads (Light Metallic Gold 2x)  and one, 6mm Swarovski Xilion Bicone Bead (Jet AB 2).
