London Fashion Week reveals some exciting new AW12 jewellery trends
We are always excited to see what the jewellery trends are going to be for the next season and London Fashion Week this month has revealed some scene-stealing jewellery.
LFW has shown support for the jewellery industry this month by launching a brand new initiative called BFC Rock Vault to support, showcase and promote the work of Britain’s most innovative, upcoming jewellery designers.
It is great news for the industry as it highlights just how important jewellery is to the fashion world and how the right piece can take a look from drab to fab!
Jewellery on the catwalk for AW12 was eclectic and wide-ranging. One of the main jewellery trends we noticed was the use of long, thin neck chains and geometric shapes that featured throughout LFW.
Jewellery designer Fiona Paxton’s new collection has been dubbed ‘African Sushi’ for its mixed material styling. Materials such as zigzag patterns, African-style beadwork, coloured leathers and Swarovski Crystal beads have been used throughout her collection.
Our Champagne Bling Swarovski Bracelet Kit is similar to Fiona Paxton’s latest collection and is very versatile. The charm bracelet is champagne plated and has beads such as glass rhondells in metallic rainbow and Swarovski Pearl beads in crystal powder almond.
We have also seen lots of beads in the shape of fruits and the use of African beads in bright colours by Tatty Devine. We sell some great wooden strawberry beads in our shop that will be on trend for AW12 and we have some amazing round glass pearl beads in redif you want to create an African-style jewellery item.
We also have a pretty Tribal Bead Collection Kit that uses Japanese Seed beads in frosted green and Czech Seed beads in orange. This jewellery collection kit links in really well with the African theme we have seen at London Fashion Week and is really versatile.
The use of charms seemed to be a popular choice by designers and many models wore charmed bracelets or long necklaces with a charm. Our Steampunk Bracelet Kit has bright red rose beads and a butterfly pendant. Butterflies have featured on a few of the models during LFW this month and were also popular in the SS12 fashion shows.
London Fashion Week seemed to give out one message and that was to co-ordinate to the next level. Remember to use bright, striking coloured beads and crystals if you want to make a statement piece of jewellery in time for the autumn season.
