How To Use Leather Cord In Your Bracelets Designs
This month we are inspired by leather cord, travel and the new spectrum of colours that autumn brings; dusky pinks, blues and earthy tones are the ‘go to’ colours of this season.
In keeping with the travel theme, I designed this piece using black leather cord and vintage bronze craft wire, giving it a rustic earthy feel.
The combination of the leather bound with craft wire really appealed to me and as I wanted the piece to look bold, the chunky 3mm Leather lends itself perfectly, as do the Polaris style beads, with their slate finish and pastel shades.
The possibilities are endless with these bracelets, I extended the wire on one of the bracelets just for a slightly different effect, and you could bind the small spacer beads to cover the rest of the leather.
Maybe just add a couple of wooden beads and make them for the fellas in your life
I think beading sometimes can be too technical, I liked making these bracelets because they don’t have to be precise, for example if the wraps of the wire don’t sit perfectly next to each other, I think for this style of bracelet it adds to the design.
When you start to wrap the beads you will notice that they slide around a little especially the small spacer beads, but I like the way the sit either side of the leather, so you see you can be more free when you are making your wire wraps.
This is my favourite thing about these bracelets, its quick and easy and you can make each bracelet slightly different.
Just the thing for the end of the summer holidays a cute little project to wear with the tan you already have or the one you are going to get!!
