Known as ‘the stone of evolution’ African Turquoise is not turquoise at all; it is in fact part of the Jasper family. The misleading name is given because of its similarity to turquoise but in many instances the blue/green colour is added later and sold as a substitute to more expensive types of natural turquoise. . This speckled Jasper contains crystal quartz, giving it an opaque appearance much like turquoise, however African Turquoise is much harder in density. The hard wearing concentration of this stone, makes African Turquoise perfect for frequently handled jewellery such as prayer beads, rosaries & malas.

African Turquoise is a symbol of spiritual enlightenment, self-realisation, and connection to higher realms of consciousness.
