Howlite is a chalky white mineral identifiable by the grey veining that runs through the stone.  

This borate mineral is formed in evaporate deposits found in standing bodies of water, it has a porous composition making it go to choice for dye treatments, most commonly to resemble green turquoise due to their similar appearance. White Howlite is often sold under the name 'white turquoise' or dyed bright colours and carved into various novelty shapes.  

The stone is considered to have a calming effect on the wearer and is used for stress & anger reducing in healing jewellery.
