Freshwater Pearl Beads

Freshwater pearls are produced naturally by molluscs and mussels and as such, each one has a unique and individual beauty all of its own. Our stock of freshwater pearls at The Bead Shop is wide and varied and includes many different kinds of colours and shapes to choose from.

The Freshwater Pearl Bead Collection

There is a threading hole of approximately 0.5mm in each pearl bead and all are available on a 38cm string in whites, purples, pinks and peacock colours.

Creating Your Freshwater Pearl Bead Jewellery Design

Silk is the preferred choice for stringing together pearls. The Bead Shop’s Griffin silk cord is one of the best kinds of stringing material as it is easy to knot in between each bead to create a unique quality to your string of pearls. Take a look at our blog post on how to knot your beads to use this effective way of threading your pearls together.

If you like the look of Freshwater Pearls but aren’t sure which design you would like have a look at our book collection where there are oodles of ideas on jewellery making. Have a look at our Vintage Beaded Jewellery book or The New Encyclopaedia of Jewellery Making Techniques to whet your appetite.

Mix your Freshwater Pearls with metal charms like The Bead Shop’s loveable ‘handmade’ charm or Metal Cross Charms. The symmetry and precision of the Swarovski Bicones creates a striking and contrasting effect; have a look at our stunning Xillion Bicone beads or any one of the many colours we have available in this range.

For more jewellery making equipment have a look at our range of headpins if you want to thread your fresh water pearls onto a charm bracelet. Or see more on our jewellery findings page to help you find the perfect toggle clasp, wire guardian or earring components.
