The word ‘Dzi’ loosely translates as ‘brightness’ or ‘splendour’. Pronounced ‘Zee’, these Tibetan beads are considered to bring positive spiritual benefits to their wearer. The earliest Dzi beads originated in India around 2000 B.C and were hand calved from natural agate stone. If you are lucky enough to own an original Dzi bead, they can sell for hundreds of thousand pounds. However, for those of us looking for a more affordable alternative, these modern replicas are slightly more accessible.
