Dragonfly Beads and Charms
There is a wide variety of mythology surrounding the dragonfly from around the world; it has been a creature of fascination in many civilisations throughout history and in many cultures they are believed to have once been dragons. Dragonflies are highly revered in Japanese culture with association with summer and early autumn; to the Japanese, these insects symbolise strength, courage and happiness, and in China, they are seen as good luck charms and also represent prosperity. Amongst many Native American cultures, they are seen as a sign of happiness. Dragonflies have also been a great influence in the art world, most notably within the Art Nouveau movement, with the subject being commonplace in jewellery designs, posters and as decorative motifs on fabrics and home furnishings. Their rich history makes them a really lovely addition to so many different designs.
