Our little inspirational Jewellery making day

We know how hard it can be to start a project, be inspired and know which beads to use, there is so much choice and it can be a little daunting, so to help we wanted to show some ideas we come up with on a regular basis and by using themes for each separate blog, we think this will be a useful tool to help get your creative juices flowing!

So to let you into our little inspirational Jewellery making day and to introduce you to one of our in house designers Fran, who also works in our Manchester Shop in Afflecks.  Sitting in our Beading Academy room surrounded by beads and beading books (and Radio 2, although we had to switch to Radio 1 as Fran was getting angry with the callers and wanted to call in herself)

Fran and I came up with the idea of a punk theme, I also wanted to incorporate the new neon Swarovski Pearls and even though I have found it difficult in the past few months to find any item of clothing that isn’t for stick thin teenagers that want to look like Jessie J and Cheryl Cole, I thought well if you can’t beat them join them, No I didn’t buy a pair of satin leggings and a bra top!

I mixed in the neon Swarovski pearls with brass chunky chain, so it still looked classy but just a hint of cheesy pop to it, I was very pleased with the results, It is the first time I have used the Semi precious skulls, but I think they work really well with this style it is kind of neon Goth gone mad. The shamballa beads are also a good to use within other beads I know sometimes we can become quite fixed in our ways so it is good to mix it up a bit and see what happens.

The cheeky little earrings I think are actually my favourite these were a last minute idea and even though they are not as big and bright as the rest they would work well with one of these pieces so it’s not an overload of colour and they are so delicate looking I love them!

Fran on the other hand went for the nightmare before Christmas look and came up with a fantastic  Tiara, which was admired by everyone at the website Fran had a pain staking hour or so wrapping the craft wire around the tiara band, but it was totally worth the bruised fingers as it looks great and finishes the look off perfectly.  It reminds me of something in a Vivien Westwood shop window any Goth bride would look a million dollars in this!

She also created a beautiful necklace with rows of beads and chunky chain which gives it a great Rocky look, but still feminine.  The wire wrapped around the black ribbon on both sides is also practical as well as looking good; it will hold everything in its place.

We had a great day working together and we are looking forward to showing you our next project…..We hope these ideas and Jewellery will give you lots of inspiration. Please let us know what you think!

Also next week we will be adding each piece of jewellery separately with all the beads we have used, So watch this space!

We would love you to send in any ideas you have or any Jewellery you have made from our ideas.

Lots of Love

Emily x
