Jewellery findings are the little bits that make up jewellery that you probably don’t notice until you look hard enough. They are the bits like clasps, extra rings, headpins and links. Here are a few brief descriptions of some of the purposes and uses of jewellery findings:
Jump Rings – These are used as links; they attach beads to chains, claps to bracelets, and sometimes pendants to chains.
Headpins – These are small lengths of wire with a flat disc at the bottom. These are generally used to make clusters and focal points of beads. They can be used individually or in groups.
Dividers – These are metal bars with holes through it. You can use them to separate beads when threading and to help keep threads apart.
Bead Caps – These are used to go above and/or below beads to give them a neater, more professional appearance. They work best on spherical beads, so glass and pearl beads are the most common use.
End Fasteners – These are devices to place on or over the end of thread, chain or wire in order to attach a clasp or fastening. They fasten the end of the threading material so that it will be neatly finished and practical to use as a clasp.
