Beads, glorious beads…

Glass, wooden or crystal… let’s not get carried away shall we? But, the point is that beads are wonderful. They are so versatile they can be used for almost anything. You can wear them, play with them, look at them and cuddle them, depending on what you are making.

They are most often used in jewellery making, but they can be used on clothing and as embellishments to brooches, magnets, and picture frames too. You can make ornaments purely from beads, as well as phone socks, handbags, pen covers, wine glass markers, decorative flowers, purses; the list really is almost endless.

Why not have a look around next time you plan on buying some seed beads for your jewellery, and have a think about the different things you could make with those beads, or even the beads you seldom look at?

Maybe think about getting some bone or wooden beads to bring a natural or tribal feel to some clothing, or even some Swarovski crystals to make that a glitzy, eye-catching window ornament. You could try some bead weaving to make charming chunky bracelets, or you could even incorporate some larger beads into a blanket or throw you are knitting.

The possibilities are endless, so just make sure you aren’t choosing to prevent yourself from using the full potential of beads!

  1. Hello – can you help??
I want to make a momento for a Hen do in the form of a brooch……… not experienced in this AT ALL but was wondering if anyone had any simple ideas that could help.
I want it to tie in with the colour scheme of the wedding which is an indigo blue and was then thinking crystal style sparkles.
I ahve lots of time to do this (trying to be prepared!!) but not alot of inspiration.
    Any ideas???
