About Jewellery Findings

Jewellery findings are the basics of jewellery making, used to join your jewellery components together to create the finished piece. They are the foundations of any design and are essential in your beading toolbox and usually made from metals or metallic alloys, including brass and Sterling Silver, in a range of different coloured platings to help your creativity flow.

Because there are so many different types, styles and materials used in the world of Jewellery Making Findings the grade can vary but we like to hand pick the best quality for each type of finding to ensure that your next project is as good as your last. The Beadalon products have been designed with the Beadalon wire in mind, offering a larger range of hole sizes for the smaller sized cords, but can also be used with any stringing materials for a bespoke finish. Beadsmith also provide a complete range of jewellery making findings, including Earwires, Tiara Bands, Clasps, Toggles and a whole host more, bringing their experience and product knowledge for you to create wonderful pieces.  For that extra special touch, we also have an extensive range of Sterling Silver Findings. These are made with 925 Sterling Silver and stamped with the 925 stamp so you know the quality and luxury of Sterling Silver is guaranteed. Sterling Silver offers a slower rate of tarnish (which can be cleaned up with a Polishing Cloth, unlike plated metals) and a brighter silver colour than a plated metal.

Along with differing qualities of findings there are different prices to suit all budgets. The incredibly useful Headpins start at only £2.00 for 100 and Jump Rings are priced from £1.00 for 200, both prove invaluable in almost every jewellery design you can think of: It is difficult to imagine a piece of jewellery that cannot use these beading staples! Jewellery findings are the perfect way to finish of your bracelet or necklace, with Lobster Clasps starting from only £1.00 for 10, Toggles at £1.00 for 5 and Magnetic Clasps as low as £0.65 each. If you fancy something a little different for your clasp, the Jewellery Findings do not disappoint! Why not try a Diamante Magnetic Owl or Seahorse Clasp from only £2.00 or a Filigree Box Clasp starting at £0.90 each?

If you prefer a precious metal for your creations, there are Sterling Silver Findings. These are more expensive than their plated variants but do offer a longer life product so are perfect for those special pieces, such as Wedding Jewellery or when using with expensive beads. They also add a touch of luxury to the everyday item: even a simple pair of drop earrings can be transformed with the use of Sterling Silver Fishhooks, starting at only £1.00 per pair. For a starter findings kit from the Sterling Silver range, try the Sterling Silver Headpin (from £0.25 each), Sterling Silver Crimp Beads (starting from £0.85 for 10), Jump Rings priced from £0.50 for 10 and a Lobster Clasp from only £0.90.

Jewellery findings are the foundations of jewellery making (every jewellery maker and designer would be stuck without them!) so these wonderful pieces will always be on trend. The style of your findings will depend heavily on the type of piece you are making and the effect you wish from the overall piece, but Silver Plated and Sterling Silver varieties have always been the most popular, throughout the seasons, so these are always a safe trend bet for your next design. Styles have grown to favour the decorative clasps, with more diamante and elaborate designs being used than ever before. As people move away from the “throw away society”, favouring heirlooms and sustainable pieces, Sterling Silver has grown ever more in popularity for crafting projects.
